What is a Body Mass Index? (BMI)

BMI stands for Body Mass Index, a numerical value of your weight in relation to your height. Body Mass Index (BMI) are good indicators of healthy or unhealthy weights for adult men and women, regardless of body frame size. Though it does not actually measure the percentage of body fat, it may be a useful tool to estimate a healthy body weight on how tall a person is. Your body is made up of water, fat, protein, carbohydrate and various vitamins and mineral.

What is a Healthy Body Mass Index?

A person with a BMI of 18.5 to 24.9 is considered to be at a healthy weight. A person with a BMI of 25-29.9 is considered to be overweight. A BMI over 30 is considered obese. The health effect of being overweight or obese is: Heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, Stroke, Sleep & respiratory problems. If you're overweight or obese, you can reduce these ricks just by losing weight and keeping it off.
